Happy Mother's Day

I have another update on my stitching for the last 2 rotations. The first is 2 weeks work on Chocolate,Chocolate & More Chocolate. You can see one of the cupcakes taking shape now. I love working on this (well, I love working on all of them).

Next is my update on Train of Dreams. Got in 2 good weeks on this one. Still loving it.

And last but not least(& I know I'm crazy) but today I am starting another one. This will be 6 in the rotation. I am starting Sundae Delight.
This is another SAL with Caite. We are also being joined in this one by Elena & Annie.

I hope all of the Mom's who read my ramblings have a wonderful Mother's Day & get plenty of stitching done.

It's Time for Another Update

Good morning,

I have put in 2 weeks on The Astronomer & I think I have made some good progress. I did 926 stitches. It doesn't sound like alot but it was all confetti stitching. I confess I had one day out of the 2 weeks that I did not get 1 stitch in. Just too tired.

Now I have a confession to make. Chocolate, Chocolate & More Chocolate was supposed to have a turn next but I could not resist starting another one. I have now added Afternoon Tea to my rotation.

What can I say. I'm addicted to these little dragons.

On a non stitching note the weather here has been better. No snow & not much rain for the last 2 weeks.Maybe spring has finally come to New England.

Okay now time to go stitch somemore.

I'm Back

I'm trying to be better about posting updates on my HAED's. I am rotating 4 of them at the moment(that # could change if my fabric ever comes in) but I haven't been good about posting updates. Since I am no good at keeping track of how many hours I put in at any one time I keep track of how many stitches I do each day. So far Treasure Quest has had 2 turns in the rotation of 2 weeks each time. The first 2 weeks I put in 2214 stitches & the second two weeks I put in 1639. The 2nd rotation had alot more confetti stitching. Now I have put this away and am working on the Astronomer(the HAED that started my addiction) for the next 2 weeks.

Geez, I didn't realize how long it has been since I posted. Goes to show the old saying "Time flys when you're having fun" is so true. I have been stitching away & have 3 projects to update on. When last I posted it was with my progress on Treasure Quest. Now I have updates on 3 projects that I have stitched on since then. Train of Dreams, The Astronomer & Chocolate Chocolate & More Chocolate (this one will now be referred to as CC&MC). They have each had 2 weeks of stitching.

Also woke up this morning to more of that four letter word s***. Come on enough is enough. I grew up in Montana & we never had this much snow at once back then.

I would also like to ask a favor of anyone who comments & asks a question please leave your email address so I can reply.

Treasure Quest

Hi All,

It has been 2 weeks of stitching on Treasure Quest so it is time to post a progress picture & then change to The Astronomer for his 2 weeks of attention. I have also taken a picture of my TUSAL for this month. I know I know I'm late. In my defense I am stitching instead of taking pictures on time. I also added a photo of my stitching buddy Brandi. You should try to stitch with a 65 pound Irish Setter in the chair with you..She is pretty good though she lays still & keeps her head out of the way. I can't say the same for all the exotic fibers that end up in my stitching.

RIP Rene La Frog

Sad news. This week we lost a dear friend & fellow stitcher Rene La Frog to cancer. She will be greatly missed in our stitching groups & by her family.
From now on every stitch I make will be dedicated to Rene because of her love of stitching & her willingness to help anyone who asked.

Wow, I can't believe it is 2011 already. Why does it seem that time goes faster the older you get. Seems like summer was just yesterday & now it is the middle of winter. We had a great Christmas & a quiet New Year.

I had the week between Christmas & New Years off so got alot of stitching done. It's amazing what you can do when you don't have to worry about going to work Then again have to work to pay for stash. I finished my 2 week rotation on Train of Dreams & on January 1 I started Treasure Quest. I know I'm crazy but I can't help myself. Spangler's work is so addicting & the little dragons are so cute. So cute that I ordered 4 more of them. HAED was having a 30% off sale & what girl can resist a sale. I got Eldar, Afternoon Tea,Curl up with a Good Book & Medieval Shelf. I also picked up Christmas Presence for my Santa collection. Without boring you further here is my progress on Train of Dreams & my start on Treasure Quest.

I have also taken the last picture of my TUSAL for 2010. It has been emptied into my huge jar & is ready to start over for 2011.

I can't believe how long it has been since my last post. I have a good excuse though. I have been totally obsessed with stitching on Train of Dreams. I just thought I'd pop on to show off my progress to date. I started stitching this on 6/18/10.

New Start & Stash Enhancement

Wow. 2 updates in the same month. I must be slipping. I started another HAED Train of Dreams on 6/18/10. I have so far put 1,708 stitches in. If I figured right this has a total of 102,500 stitches. It's going to take awhile. Oh well, other than work I don't have much else to do. DH says it keeps me off the streets.

I also remembered to take a picture of my TUSAL this month. I had to graduate to a larger container. I will keep the smaller one on my stitching table & as it gets full I will add it to my larger one.

Last but not least I did a little shopping during the HAED Father's day sale. I got 2 more Randall Spangler charts. Treasure Quest & Chocolate,Chocolate & More Chocolate.

My Monthly Update

I seem to only be able to update my blog once a month for some reason. I think I'm just lazy. Not much happening around here. I have been getting a good amount of stitching done. On one of my groups we had a 100 stitch a day challenge. I didn't come anywhere close to 3100 stitches but I did put 1097 stitches into The Astonomer. I am getting antsy for another start so Train of Dreams is being assembled. I have the fabric all prepared & most of the threads(alot of them are used on The Astronomer). Now just need to start it. I went to my LNS yesterday & got the fabric for several more projects. Also picked up A Tree by Itself. Like I need another project. Oh well. My husband says I have more projects than I can do in several lifetimes but I tell him I will have fun trying.

It's About Time

I was recently reminded (thanks Dineke) that I have not posted an update for a long time. My bad. I have been stitching daily on The Astronomer but haven't taken any pictures. I am also 2 months behind on my TSUAL but as you can see it is progressing nicely.
I am really enjoying The Astronomer. I have completed half of page 1 & am almost done with half of page 2. I am working across the top but got tired of so much black so went on to the second page so I could have some new colors to stitch with. When I am working on a project I keep seeing new symbols that I haven't stitched yet & feel like I can't wait to get to them to see how they stitch up. Does anyone else do this?? Please don't tell me I'm crazy. I already know that. I stitch HAED & Mystic Stitch patterns & I have been known to cruise Kustom Krafts, Scarlet Quince, Long Dog & the many quaker sites in search of more large projects. My husband says I'll never live long enough to stitch them all but my response is I'll have a good time trying & besides it is 2 hobbies-collecting & stitching.
I recently took advantage of HAED's mother's day sale & purchased 3 more of their charts. Wizard of Oz for my daughter who also stitches plus Magic & Wizard's Lab for me. I know I'm weak but I also know I'm not alone in my obsession.

Quaker Halloween

This weekend has been cold,rainy & windy in New England. It has not stopped raining since Saturday morning as I write this at 9:30am on Monday. On Saturday I went to an open house at the Cordon Bleu Cooking School in Boston. My oldest daughter Sabrina has been accepted there & if the financing goes through she will start on April 6. Fingers are crossed.

On a stitching front the weather made it a great stitching weekend. I got a good start on Quaker Halloween. I must say I like my color better than the recommended colors. To me purple is not a Halloween color. I am using Crescent Colors Belle Soie Lasagne silk.Love how it stitches. The fabric is 25 count mushroom lugana. This is my first Quaker & I love it. It will get 2 weeks & then I will stitch on The Astronomer for 2 weeks. This time the rotation seems to be working for me. I just finished 2 weeks on Cottage Garden Rug but forgot to take pictures so will post those another time.

UFO Thursday

On one of my groups Friendly Stitchers we have UFO Thursday. Everyone lives in fear of Alison Joy & the wet noodle she wields to keep us in line. I have managed to find all the bits of another of my many UFO's to replace my former UFO which is now a WIP. Please meet A Change of Pace by Barbara & Cheryl. I am ashamed to say it has been a UFO for 5 plus years. I only have a small amount of the upper left had corner to finish. Probably 5 or 6 Thursdays the way I stitch. Hopefully I will be able to get another UFO together by the time this is finished so I will not feel the lash of the wet noodle.

Weekly Update on The Astronomer

I wish I could get these to line up across my post. This is frustrating. Oh,well this is my weekly progress on The Astronomer. I am so enjoying this that it will get another week in the rotation before I go back to the Rug. I also have another project kitted up & ready to go but will not start it until after another week on this & 2 weeks on the Rug. The new one is Quaker Halloween. The design is done in burgandy colors but to me that does not say Halloween so I am doing mine with orange (Lasagna) silks. This will be my first time using silks so can hardly wait to try them. Aren't they gorgeous?

The Astronomer

Okay I know I said I'd post pictures on Sunday but I have a good reason why I didn't. My daughter & son-in-law took Jim & I out to supper. We had a great time.

I started stitching on the Astronomer on Saturday I have done about 500 stitches. I didn't get much stitching time on Sunday because I kept getting interrupted. I decided to include a picture of my working chart to show how I keep my place without gridding.

I made alot of progress on this during the virtual stitchin. I didn't get my HAED started but I have the fabric fraychecked & all the colors for the first page on a ring. I'm a little uncomfortable starting in the upper left hand corner. I usually start in the lower left. My only complaint about the chart is there is no page layout included. Oh well, I will persevere. Need to go outside my comfort zone occasionally.

More progress

Here is this weeks progress on Cottage Garden Rug. I am really enjoying working on this. I also have pictures of one of my other WIP'S. It is Hyacinth Macaws which I am stitching as a wedding sampler for my nephew & his new wife. They are big bird lovers(they have a parrot) & since Hyacinth Macaws mate for life I thought it would be appropriate.

Since I have long weekend I plan on trying to find all the parts to a couple of other UFO's so I can get my rotation going finally.

Since I have heart & lung issues I have plenty of time to stitch after I get home from work & on weekends. I can't do much in the way of housework which is okay with me. I have a house husband(DH is retired) & my son still lives at home so they take care of most everything except the cooking. That is something I love to do & since it doesn't require any heavy lifting or strenuous activity I can still do it.

I finally was able to order my Dazor lamp with maginifier. I have an Ott light with magnifier but it is awkward to use. I use the Dazor when I go to my LNS for stitch group & it is much easier. It will be my big Xmas gift this year.

I also couldn't resist posting a picure of my stitching buddy Brandi. She usually lays on the couch next to me when I'm stitch. She keeps my hip warm LOL.

Here are the newest pictures. This is going take a long time to finish but I love working on it. I guess it really isn't a UFO anymore. Oh well, there are plenty of those waitng their turn. I really have to get busy. I work full time so most of my stitching is done in the evening & on weekends.

I always tend to do BAP's so thought it was about time I set up my own place to talk about my obsession with cross stitch & to to show my progress on some of my projects. I have plenty of UFO's so the UFO Tuesday on ILCS is just what I need. The challenge is deciding which project to work on. I finally settled on Cottage Garden Rug. It happens to be the first one I found all the parts for. My stitching stash is in several places right now so it is really disorganized & some of the projects got separated from their charts. Still searching for Santa of the Forest's chart. I know it is here somewhere. Hopefully I will finally be able to set up some kind of rotation so I can get some of these things finished.
